This trip can be done in combination with the Bouma Falls trip or on its own. Past Bouma Falls you travel by taxi for a further 30 minutes to Lavena, one of the most picturesque villages on the island.
Lavena also features one of the most beautiful beaches of Taveuni. White sand and crystal clear water make this an ideal spot for swimming, snorkeling, and picnicking.
As with all other places you visit, please remember you are guests on someone else’s property! A well formed track takes you from Lavena Village along the coast, either along the beaches or on the forest track.
For the adventuresome, there is a 5km walking path to the Tobu Vei Tui falls. This further walk takes about one and a half hours of which the last 20-30 minutes is up a creek bed (Wainabau River). Depending on weather, this could entail scrambling, wading or even swimming. The falls are spectacular and you can easily spend a whole day on this trip. You may arrange for a picnic lunch (please ask the restaurant the evening before), and you may want to bring your water bottle, snorkel gear, swimsuit, water shoes, sun block and a hat!
Travel to the far northeast end of Taveuni to Lavena, one of the most picturesque villages on the island. At Lavena village you can see how a traditional village operates, meet some of the villagers and perhaps the Village Chief.
Lavena also features one of the most beautiful beaches on Taveuni. This beach, with its spectacular white sand and crystal clear water, was featured in the movie "Return of the Blue Lagoon". It is an ideal spot for swimming, snorkeling and picnicking. From there, take a 3 mile (5 km) graded walking path to the Tobu Vei Tui falls. The walk takes about one and a half hours of which the last 30 minutes is up a creek bed. The falls are spectacular and if you're lucky, your Fijian guide will show you how to jump off the face of the cliff into the pool below.
