Activities

We have most of our Day Tours operated by Taveuni Island Tours. Their Tour Desk is situated next to the boutique. Please ask Front desk for assistance if no-one is at the Tour Desk.

Air Conditioning

All rooms have Air Conditioning. If you need Assistance please advise the Front Desk.

Airline Reservations

Domestic & International reservations can be confirmed at our Boutique for a minimal $2.00 confirmation fee.

Airline Tickets - New bookings

Garden Island Resort is an agent for Air Fiji and Sunflower Airlines - tickets can be purchased at the Boutique.

Baby Sitting

Reliable and friendly baby-sitters can be arranged if you require, with advance notice. Please contact the Front Desk.

Banking

There is one bank on Taveuni. The Colonial National Bank of Fiji branch is located in Naqara. Hours are (Mon-Thur) 9.30am to 3pm and (Fri) 9.30am to 4pm. Closed Sat and Sun. Credit Cards are not accepted there.

Bar

Our Tagimoucia Bar is open from 11am to 10pm daily. HAPPY HOUR is from 5pm to 7pm ( drinks offered at 20% discount).

The GARDEN ISLAND RESORT Band performs nightly from 6.30pm -9 pm, the Kava bowl is out! Please join the Band Boys for a taste of Fiji's ceremonial drink from the traditional Tanoa bowl.

Books - Novels

A selection of reading material is available at the Boutique's 'Take One, Leave One Library'

Books - Reference Library

A selection of reference books are located in our Resort Library in the lounge area. The library is opened upon request. For access please Front Desk. Please Sign Out the book at that time.

Catering

Birthday or other special occasion cakes can be prepared in our kitchen or ordered in. Please check with Reception.

Check Out Time

Standard check out time is 09.00am. However, if you are leaving on an afternoon flight and no one is booked for your room, you may stay on in the room at no extra charge until midday. Should you wish to stay longer a nominal Day Room rate will apply. Please verify with our Front Desk Staff.

Check In Time

Standard check in time is 11.00am. However, if you arrive on the early morning flight and no one is booked for your room, you may access your room earlier. Please verify with our Front Desk Staff.

Church Services

Visitors to Fiji are welcome to attend the local church services. The singing is wonderful! 7am-9am-11am. Please wear a sulu (Fijian Skirt, ask at the Front Desk) or appropriate church clothing. A small donation is appreciated.

We accept American Express, Mastercard and Visa.

Currency Exchange

Foreign currency and travelers checks can be exchanged at the Front Desk. An FHA percentage surcharge applies to all transactions.

Doctor/First Aid - non emergency

There is a well-equipped hospital situated at the top of the hill in Waiyevo.

Departure Tax -Nadi Airport

Currently FJ$30.00 (thirty dollars) per person. Children under 12 are exempt.

Dress Code

Light and comfortable clothing is in order throughout Fiji. We do, however, ask that you respect the customs and traditions of the Fijian people and avoid inappropriate clothing outside the Resort.

Electricity

The Resort supplies its own 24 Hour (220v) generator power. Plug adapters and voltage converters to suit 110v appliances are available for loan. Enquire at Reception.

Emergencies

For any emergency, please contact the Managers through the Front Desk. Security guards are on duty 24 hours a day and will answer the phone at reception at night, should you need anything. If no answer call after 10 minutes as these staff are patrolling the grounds.

Golf/Tennis/Lawn Bowls

Available at the Club House at Soqulu. Ask for details at reception.

Housekeeping

For additional pillows, towels or similar needs, please contact any Housekeeper on your floor.

Internet

Internet station is located in the boutique: $5.50 for the first 10 minutes and 50 cents for each additional minute. Wireless connection is available in our lounge; cost of $25/day

Ironing Facilities

Available adjacent to the staircase on the first floor (upstairs).

Keys

Please leave your key at the Front Desk when leaving the Resort at any time.

Laundry

Please fill out the laundry list and place laundry in the bag provided in the closet . Contact Reception to have our housekeepers collect the laundry bag. Hand-washing may be done in the ironing room adjacent to the staircase on the second floor.

Luggage

For assistance/porter please call 0 Front Desk.

Mail

Postage services are available through the boutique or Front Desk. Please leave mail at Front Desk for posting.

Newspapers

Fiji newspapers may be available at the shop next door.

Nightly House Band from 6-10pm

Enjoy the melodic tunes of the Garden Island Resort Band every night. Bring their sounds home with you by purchasing their CD or Cassette from our Boutique.

Photocopying

Copies can be made for 40 cents per page.

Restaurant

Open from 7am to 9am for breakfast, 12.30pm to 2pm for lunch, and 7pm to 9pm for dinner. Note: Please place your dinner order with restaurant staff or Front Desk before 5pm.

Room Maintenance

Please advise housekeeping staff or Front Desk Staff of any repairs required to your room.

Safe Deposit

Each room is fitted with individual safety deposit boxes.

Scuba Diving

Our Dive Centre is located beyond the volleyball court at the far end of the Resort.

Open 8.00am till 4.00pm .

Swimming Pool - No life guard on duty!

Pool Towels are available at the Front Desk. Please enjoy the pool and swim at your own risk.

Taxi Service

If you require a taxi, the Receptionist will call one for you. We do not have many taxis on the island and there could be a lengthy wait.

Telephone Calls

Direct Dial service is available from your room. The resort levies a surcharge for all calls and a $1.00 fee for all calling card - 800 or operator assisted calls. Tipping

Tipping is not customary in Fiji. We do not allow individual tipping. We have a Staff Fund box at the Front Desk if you would like to contribute. There is another located at the Dive Centre specifically for dive staff. Gratuities are most appreciated and distributed to all staff (including those with whom you have less contact, such as maintenance, laundry and kitchen) at Christmas.

Towels

Housekeeping is responsible for the towel issue in your room and we request that you do not remove them from your room. Towels for use at the pool are available at Reception, please return pool towels Reception, we will need to charge your room for any non-returned towels.

Dive towels will be onboard the Dive Boat available for your use.

TAX (Value Added Tax & HTT)

All prices in the hotel exclude 12.5% Vat and 5% HTT taxes. Prices quoted are in Fiji dollars.
